Life Matters has recently won a grant through Ansvar Insurance to develop a program aimed at journeying with boys as they navigate their way into manhood - this is The Blueprint to Becoming a Man - Giving boys the tools to become men the world needs
This exciting opportunity will see the Life Matters team creating workshops targeted at adolescent boys in Yrs. 7-10.
It will be a whole year approach, with one 90-minute workshop led by the Life Matters team, followed by teacher guided ‘team’ sessions, beginning the journey with Yr. 7 & Yr. 8’s in 2019.
Here’s what students are saying:
“I was kind of scared to go through manhood but I’m not anymore” - Reece, Yr. 8
“It showed me that you don’t have to give into the male stereotypes” - Levi, Yr. 8
“I learnt I don’t need to be scared about telling someone something” - Jesse, Yr. 7
“Information was on relevant topics for our students. Our presenter was able to engage and help our students understand vocab and the overall message was clearly and effectively delivered. The follow up materials was also appreciated.” - Kimba AS
“The Warrior with Heart message was clear and is easy to remember. I appreciate that the boys had the opportunity to think about gender stereotypes. 4-way Tug-of-War was a great way for the boys to be physical, work as a team, and work through challenge in a fun way. I like the way Matt used activities to get to know each student and encourage participation. He used different modes of teaching to give the best chance of keeping students engaged. Matt is a clear and engaging communicator.” - Christies Beach PS
“I loved the engagement and keeping it relevant for the lads, they seemed to not fall into the "omg lame" but were really happy to be listening to cool relevant guys which I think is always great. Matt and Tom were awesome and presented amazingly.” - Lockleys North PS
We are documenting the process of this program, watch our vlog to meet the team, hear about research and be amongst our creative planning sessions.
